Update on Worship Service

From Oct 11, 2020

Dear Church Family,

We are now seven months into a situation we never saw coming.  When the Session made the decision to go to virtual worship only on March 13th, we never imagined we would still not be back together for in-person worship but, the good news is, we are moving in that direction.

Our Session, along with vital input from the Diaconate, has taken a cautious approach to our return to in-person worship.  Some have criticized this approach, and some have supported it.  In either case, it was with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, scientific and medical recommendations, governmental restrictions and with concern for those most vulnerable from our congregation, that decisions were made.

We know it has been frustrating for everyone.  So, it is with cautious pleasure we announce our return to in-person worship on October 4th at 10:00 am.  Of course, there are boundaries on what we will be able to do.  Those have been outlined in our Return to Public Worship Policies.   As of October 11th, the maximum number of attendees for Sunday worship has been increased to 75.  The latest guidance from the NC DHHS regarding the number of people attending indoor gatherings has increased to 30% of the maximum building capacity, or 100, whichever is less.  Considering the maximum capacity and layout of Ransdell Hall, the number of congregants should be limited to 75 with appropriate spacing of 6 feet or more.  Sign Up Genius will be increased from 25 slots to 75.  We ask that you continue to sign up for Sunday worship attendance.  You may email the office at This email address is being protected from spambots. It is important to note that we will continue to stream the service as we have been through this entire pandemic.  If you are not ready to return to in-person worship, you can still join us on-line through Sermon.net and Facebook Live.

I want to thank all of you as well for being steadfast throughout this COVID Wilderness journey.  There are still challenges ahead but for now, may God provide enough grace for what you need this day.

Peace be with you,
Rev. Gillespie and the Session of FVPC
